“We have spent a decade evolving in the outdoor apparel industry and push the limits every day with what we create and how we create it.”

Tell us about yourself! What’s your background and what do you do?

We are Tanner & Taylor, a husband and wife duo based in Denver. Tanner is the creative mastermind. He is a self taught artist that draws everything we make by hand. Taylor is the business fanatic that holds everything together. Together we craft all of our products in house with the majority of them being screen printed. We started our journey as business owners when we were 16/17 years old. We have spent a decade evolving in the outdoor apparel industry and push the limits every day with what we create and how we create it. We are completely self taught in everything we do and have a deep passion for creating high quality products that people genuinely enjoy.

By focusing on creating from our own experiences, we are able to create passionately from our heart and in turn, we create a set of work we are proud of that often relates to the lives that our customers live as well.”

How did you learn your craft? Tell us about your first finished product.

We are completely self taught screen printers. We learned from online tutorials and trial and error until we perfected our craft years later. We started our screen printing journey at the age of 16 in Tanner's parents garage. We bought the absolute cheapest supplies we could because we couldn't afford anything else at the time. We bought hobby grade materials and created our first set of shirts in a tiny spot in the garage. We didn't have a way to truly dry them so we laid them out on the driveway to dry in the hot sun of a July day. We've come a long way since then and are proud of our humble beginnings!

Where does the name of your business come from?

My (Taylor) great grandparents ran an apparel store in the 50's called "Moore's for Men & Women." They were open for less than a decade before my great grandpa passed away. The store was his passion so in time the family shut the store down. When we started, we realized that we, just like them were in the apparel industry and wanted to continue their legacy by creating the modern day "Moore."

How long does it take to make your product and what’s involved in the process?

Every step is different. Since all of our designs are hand drawn, we put an emphasis on quality over quantity. Some designs evolve faster than others but in general, it takes about a month to brainstorm the next collection to finalizing it as a specific product in between normal day to day operations. The design phase is the most time intensive because we put a lot of care and thought into doing it right from the start. From there, we do our screen prep which is the process of getting our image onto a screen that allows us to actually print the item on a tee. This process takes a few hours from start to finish but once complete, we are able to print thousands of tees off of that singular screen. After years of perfecting our processes and upgrading our equipment, we can, by hand print about 200 shirts per hour before we complete the process of sorting, folding and inventorying the items into our system.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Just about every single design comes from our own experiences growing up outdoors. We started creating based on what we would like personally and what we've experienced and put that out there to see how people would take to it. By focusing on creating from our own experiences, we are able to create passionately from our heart and in turn, we create a set of work we are proud of that often relates to the lives that our customers live as well. After a few years of creating graphics heavily centered around the mountains, we pushed the limits by adding a character to our line of tees and marketing materials that we refer to as the "Tree Planter." This character is Tanner's dad in cartoon form and ended up being one of our best selling concepts because people often look at it and see a fun version of their dad or what they picture their husband to look like in 30 years. Creating products for us personally has allowed us to remain excited about creating the next set of products that all have a story that we're proud of.

What’s your favorite product that you’ve created?

We're really proud of our tees but our favorite piece is the journal we created called "50 States Traveled." We created this items as a birthday gift for Taylor's sister. Based on demand, we decided to eventually add it to our line. We created it because we wanted a journal we had never seen or been able to buy that matched the aesthetic or functionality we liked. We took our skills of screen printing to print the book covers and packaging and found a local book binder to bind them in a way that's not commonly seen. We didn't know how books were made but we figured it out once the idea came to mind. Fast forward a few years later and we have sold just shy of 15,000 journals that was originally created just to use within our family.

What question do you get asked the most at pop-up markets?

Most people ask how we've been able to get where we are. The true answer would take a few hours to answer but in a nutshell, the answer is usually "a lot of hard work, grit and perseverance to get through the days that are tough as nails."

What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know (or wouldn’t guess)?

Taylor is on a bowling league and while still mostly terrible, bowls every week and even has a custom fit ball and shoes. Tanner is a pretty darn good chef and we often choose cooking complicated meals at home then going out.

What’s your favorite beverage to sip on?

There are too many to decide just one! By category: Wine - Summer Water. Beer (any craft beer really but if we have to pick one) - Ratio Strawberry Berliner Weisse. Cocktail - Hot fresh apple cider whiskey with lemon. Non alcoholic - Ice cold Mexican Coke in a glass bottle.
