Tell us about yourself! What’s your background and what do you do?
My name is Lauren and I am a certified herbalist, which means I am recognized by the Colorado state board for completion of The Fundamentals of Medical Herbalism.
How did you learn your craft? Tell us about your first finished product.
Herbs have always been a part of my life and obtaining my herbalism certificate furthered my relationship with plants into a career. My first Herbal Vice product was a Chamomile Hydrosol, however it wasn’t usable LOL. Practice makes Perfect.
Where does the name of your business come from?
Herbs are my Vice.
How long does it take to make your product and what’s involved in the process?
Each product is made in a small batch by hand with love. Most of the plants used to make our products are grown from the Herbal Vice garden.
Our Hydrosols are slowly distilled in a copper pot over a 6 hour duration. This process captures small amounts of essential oils and other compounds from the plant material. In other words, it’s like the soul of the plant ,captured through distillation.
Our Solar and Lunar infused botanical oils are made over several weeks. Fresh or dry plant material is infused by sunbathing or chilling under a full moon cycle. After the infusion process matures , the oils is stained and bottled.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Herbal Vice believes strongly in having daily botanical routines for your body, mind, and soul.
What’s your favorite product that you’ve created?
My favorite piece that I have created is Spike Lavender Hydrosol. Lavender gifts us a beautiful calming aromatic and the Spike variety has a touch of camphor notes.
I love incorporating this Hydrosol into my daily skin care by spraying it on my face each time I apply serum and/or facial cream. Spike Lavender revitalizes and calms my skin.
I also keep it in my car and spray frequently to freshen up on the go, yet it can be used at bedtime too.
What question do you get asked the most at pop-up markets?

What’s something unique about you that most people don’t know (or wouldn’t guess)?

What’s your favorite beverage to sip on?
Herbal tea!!
